This is for all of you with questions and problems regarding Skyrock's Chatroom service!

How do I chat?

First you need to be logged into Skyrock. Done? Then all you need to do is go to http://www.skyrock.com/chat/ and choose the language that applies to you.

I cannot connect to chat.

This can be due to several reasons:

• Insecure connection.

--If you receive this message:

(Access to the chat room has been temporarily suspended for the following reason: Connexion insécurisée. Suivez les instructions sur http://cbl.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=180.151.40.138 afin d'y remédier. IP : 180.151.40.138 )

It means you do not have a secure connection. The chat will not work if you are trying to connection via a wireless connection or a shared network or computer.

• Flash

--You need to have the latest version of the Flash player in order to successfully connect to our Chatrooms.
You can download it here:

• Cookies

--We also recommend that you empty your Internet browser of any and all cookies that may have built up.
Internet Explorer => in "Tools" -> "Internet Option" -> "General" -> "Delete" -> "Delete All"
Firefox => in "Tools" -> "Clear recent history" -> Select all -> "Delete my history now"

I have been banned... Why?

If you have been banned from Chat it is because you (or somebody using the same connection as you) did not behave appropriately in public chatrooms!
The reason you are banned is specified in parentheses following the message “Sorry you have been banned from Chat,” that appears when you connect to Chat.

You will once again be able to use Chat when your ban expires (technically, we are unable to know the length of your ban, which has been given to you by Skyrock.com's chatroom admistrators.

In the meantime, we encourage you to look over the General Terms and Service (CGU) in order to avoid being banned again.

Examples of Intolerable Behavior:

- Racism, defamation and pornography are strictly forbidden.

- All insults and vulgar behavior, even with humorous intentions, should be avoided.

- Soliciting or asking for money in exchange for any kind of service is strictly forbidden.

- Sexual exhibition is strictly forbidden and is punishable by up to a year in prison and a €15,000 fine (Penal Code Article 222-32).

- Piracy and threats of piracy are strictly forbidden.

- The use of threats or pressure to force someone to show themselves on the webcam is a crime punishable by up to a €75,000 fine and imprisonment (Penal Code Article 222-22).

How do I become a moderator?

To become a Skyrock Chatroom operator, you need to:

- Connect regularly to the Chatroom at Skyrock.com and see how it works
- Download and familiarize yourself with mIRC (you can download it at http://mirc.com),
- Find somebody who is already a moderator and ask them to sponsor you.

Did you know that you can now create personal rooms on Skyrock chat?

You choose who to invite, when to invite them, and even whether to add a password to your room. Put simply - You're in charge!

To create your room simply login to a Chat room, click on 'list of chat rooms' and then on the 'Create a personal room' button. Fill out the details requested and it's done, you're the owner of a brand new chatroom!

CHAT : See who's chatting!

We've got something new for you - now you can see if someone is connected to Skyrock Chat! The channel they are in and their nickname is displayed on their profile, allowing you to easily catch up with friends !

If you click their nickname or 'Chat' on the left-hand menu the chat will open straight away !

Now on chat, whenever your nickname is mentioned by other users, whether in a channel or private, that channel's tab will appear highlighted in red.

It's easy to turn on, simply click on the 'Options' icon at the top right of the chat window and tick the box 'Highlight messages where I get mentioned'. If you enable 'Sound notifications' a noise will also alert you.

Access your conversation history

Hey! Did you know that now there is an archive of the last
100 private messages you sent & received on chat ?

To see how it works start a private conversation with a friend in the Chat, then close and reopen the window and the previous messages will appear!

Use Skyrock messenger to chat with your best friends!

With the Skyrock Messenger, you can chat with your best friends while surfing any page on Skyrock.

To use the messenger, you have to:
1/ Activate it by going to your Friends Settings and ticking the button “Activate Skyrock Messenger”
2/ Adding friends to your best friends list.

Skyrock Messenger alerts you whenever you receive:
. A new message
. A new comment
. A confirmation that a friend just added you
. A new duel

You can show:
. Your status: You choose your status online, idle or appear invisible.
. Your 'What's up': The sentence of the day
. Sound: activated or not (depending on where you are)

Do you, like thousands of other members, go on Skyrock Chat every day ?

Now you don't have to unplug your webcam if you don't want to people to know you have one. Before you enter the chatroom just untick the box "Show that I have a webcam".

If you want people to see that you have a webcam, just leave it ticked!
